Healthy Habits Showcase
A fun, family-oriented, interactive health, safety and fitness expo
On Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mohegan Sun will host the fifth annual Healthy Habits Showcase, featuring the popular Kidz Safety & Wellness Trail, free health screenings, flu & pneumonia shots, over 75 exhibits and displays, and much more! Admission is free. The Showcase will be held in the 40,000 square foot Uncas Ballroom.
The Healthy Habits Showcase is a great way to promote good health in a fun and entertaining environment! Not only is the Showcase an excellent way for adults & seniors to learn about and understand the latest trends to keep them healthy and active, but the Showcase is a treasure chest of information for children and teens to learn about nutrition, exercise and healthy living.
Last year’s Kidz Safety & Wellness Trail featured eight unique demonstrations, starting with a hand washing test. Families will then move on to a free dental screening, a food pyramid bingo game, the No Smoking pledge, Spot the Tot car safety, animal bite prevention, the Amber Alert Child ID Project, and a physical fitness challenge. At the Amber Alert Child ID Project, parents can enter their child’s information into the state police system. This information could aid police in finding a missing child and is the most popular stop on the Safety & Wellness Trail.
The Showcase features free health screenings for adults and seniors to check blood pressure, bone density, memory, vision, hearing and screens for feet and skin. There will also be flu and pneumonia shots available for a small fee (depending on your healthcare or Medicare plan) and countless demonstrations and displays on fitness and healthy cooking. There will also be medical professionals present to answer questions related to health and fitness, and information on diseases and disorders from dozens of support groups and non-profit organizations.
